Fort Bend criminal records are not held in one universal database. The correct request route depends on the type of record you need.
The District Clerk handles felony criminal case research. Readers can also use the official case search route to identify case information before requesting paid research, copies, or certified records. The public access selection should use the applicable Civil, Criminal, Family Case Records or Felony Records Search option when available. Search keys may include available party or case information. Case lookup and document-ordering services are separate actions; portal availability should be confirmed through the official access pages. The official research assistance information lists a $5 felony name search and written request requirements.
Official Fort Bend pages contain different search-period descriptions. The research assistance page describes a ten-year default search approach, while the linked search request form identifies felony searches from 1982-present. A reader should specify the requested years and confirm the clerk scope before ordering.
The County Clerk online record search route covers Class A and Class B misdemeanor court records and Class C appeals from Justice of the Peace and municipal courts from 1983 forward.
The County Clerk route provides online search access, but older court-related images may have availability limits during record-system migration. If an online record does not include the needed document, use the appropriate clerk request process.
District Clerk copy requests should include available identifiers such as case number, case style, party information, or requested document details. The current Copy Request form should be used for current pricing and delivery choices.
The current electronic copy calculation is: $1 total for the first 10 pages, then $0.10 per additional page. Paper copies are calculated separately at $1 per page. Certified copies add a $5 certification charge.
An older copy form described a different first-ten-page calculation. That older wording is preserved as a historical version conflict, not as the current electronic calculation. Readers should confirm the active form before payment.
Copy requests require payment before processing. The current request information includes a $2.49 card convenience charge where applicable and electronic delivery links expire after 15 days. The District Clerk research information lists an estimated three-business-day preparation period.
The Sheriff Records Division is a separate route for Sheriff-held reports and related Sheriff records requests. Texas DPS provides separate criminal-history products: public name-based searches provide conviction and deferred-adjudication information, while own-record or authorized fingerprint products use fingerprint identification. Name searches have identity-match limits and may not identify every possible match.
